Australia has demanded an apology from China after its foreign ministry spokesperson tweeted a fake picture depicting an Australian solider murdering an Afghan child. This after an Australian defence forces inquiry found 13 Australian soldiers responsible for the murder of 39 Afghan civilians.
Australia and China relations have been deteriorating ever since Australia joined 150 nations in demanding a probe into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, China had imposed high tariffs on Australian exports including wine, barley and beef. However, the tensions with China also provide an opportunity for Australia and India to come closer together, both strategically and economically.
