Youtube is planning to make all future original programing free for users from 2020.
Currently, many of the shows and movies on the platform are restricted to paid subscribers. The free content that YouTube will provide in future will have ads but the paid option will still remove ads from originals and other videos.
YouTube Premium was launched in 2015 and is currently available in 29 countries. YouTube's new strategy will draw in a bigger audience and satisfy growing international user interest in original programming.
YouTube says this will also meet advertisers' demands to associate with special content. Additionally, the company will have more flexibility in marketing its programmes.
Many previously released shows and movies in YouTube premium though will still have to be paid for.
