India better prepared to drive remote learning: Microsoft India’s Rajiv Sodhi

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) data shows that around 1.3 billion students from around the world have no access to classrooms due to COVID-19. This is 72 percent of the world's student population. Out of this, India alone accounts for over 320 million students. The impact of remote learning is minimal in rural India where the digital divide is a big deterrent.


In the special series ‘Get Schooled’, CNBC-TV18 puts the spotlight on how the pandemic has impacted education in India. Archana Shukla spoke to Microsoft India’s Head Rajiv Sodhi on how technology is transforming remote learning.

According to Sodhi, India is better prepared to drive remote learning. He also said that digital scaling has become very critical and Microsoft has partnered with the government to bridge the digital divide.

Sodhi also believes that India needs to focus on skilling and that technology is not necessarily a limitation.
