India and 6 other nations seek access to encrypted data

The Indian government, along with the government of six other nations including the US and United Kingdom, has signed a joint statement that calls upon tech companies to allow access to encrypted messages for law enforcement purposes.

The statement highlights that while encryption is vital, it should not come at the expense of wholly precluding law enforcement. CNBC-TV18’s Rituparna Bhuyan has the details on what exactly are the countries demanding.
