Google has agreed to comply with RBI's data localisation norms for payment services.
However, the tech giant has sought time till December to put in proper mechanisms.
Earlier, RBI had directed the companies running payment services in India to store data locally by by mid-October.
Google pay, google's digital wallet has access to financial data of various Indians. Amazon, American Express and Microsoft have reportedly opposed this move.
The order was issued when Facebook was facing global backlash over user data breach. The banking regulator RBI has also asked the companies to submit fortnightly updates on the progress.
