Oracle has named former Infosys chief executive officer Vishal Sikka to its board of directors. However, it's an ironical moment for tech watchers as Sikka has had a long association with Oracle's competitor, SAP.
SAP and Oracle's rivalry is still legendary in the tech circles as SAP’s chief technology officer, Sikka often spearheaded the company’s pushback against Oracle. In 2013, SAP moved into cloud computing at the time when Oracle was operating its own cloud services.
Sikka was the one who led SAP’s push into cloud computing. The 52-year-old is counted as an artificial intelligence (AI) expert. He recently launched an AI startup, Vianai Systems.
