The government of India recently banned TikTok along with 58 other China-based applications. This has been a watershed moment for homegrown startups, especially those operating in the content space.
Social media giant Facebook has also jumped onto this bandwagon and has been testing a new feature on Instagram called ‘Reels’ in India. Reels is a video editing tool designed to let people create TikTok-style 15-second videos.
