Facebook this week launched a consumer marketing campaign in India 'More Together' to showcase how people across the country can do more together by harnessing the power of their connections on the platform.
India is the first country in the Asia Pacific region where such a campaign is being rolled out. It is also the first time that Facebook is rolling out a high decibel campaign of this stature in India.
Ahead of the campaign launch, CNBC-TV1's Shibani Gharat spoke with Ajit Mohan, vice president and managing director of Facebook India to know more about the business objective behind this campaign launch and how the social media giant aims to restore consumer trust in the wake of all the negative reports and accusations suggesting breach of privacy and spreading misinformation by Facebook and its platforms.
Mohan said, "The More Together campaign in India will be the first time we are rolling this in the entire Asia Pacific region. We haven't launched a campaign of this scale before. The entire purpose of this campaign came from what market articulated at the beginning of last year that it is time that the company tells the story of itself a lot more vigorously than Facebook has done in the past. The entire idea of More Together is really to articulate the mission of the company in a way that people on our platform live and leverage the power of it every day."
