On the side-lines of CII National FMCG Summit 2019, Storyboard's Ankita Saxena spoke to two corporate czars, Suresh Narayanan, chairman and managing director of Nestle India and Bharat Puri, managing director of Pidilite on how to build brands in an era of fast-changing consumer needs and market slowdown.
Narayanan said, "There is one simple truth that we have to remember as marketers, consumers are not here to walk the corporate journey, companies are here to walk the consumer's journey."
"Economic cycles come and go. People who nurture and invest in their brands at that point in time. The old adage used to look before you leap, now you live in a time when you have to look while you leap. Therefore, you have to be much quicker, you have to be willing to fail faster and succeed faster," Puri said.
