On Startup Street’s 'What’s Brewing', a year after its India launch, Amazon's subscription-based audiobook service Audible is all set to launch a free audio app 'Audible Suno' in India.
This app will offer consumers over 60 original Hindi and English audio shows featuring Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif. CNBC-TV18's Priya Sheth caught up with Audible’s founder and chief executive officer, Don Katz and Shailesh Sawlani, country manager for Audible in India to discuss the company's game plan going forward.
On 'Hot Seat', Uber India President Pradeep Parameswaran said that from 11 million rides per week in 2018, Uber is now doing over 14 million per week rides in India. Speaking to CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan, the Uber India chief said the number of active users has grown by 25 percent during this period. He also talked about the company's expansion plans and said it is likely to cover 200 cities next year.
Also, on ‘Hot Seat’, Bombay Shirt Company, a fashion ecommerce venture has raised $8 million from Mumbai-based venture capital firm Lightbox. Launched in 2012, Bombay Shirt Company provides customers with one of a kind solution to design and tailor their own shirts, down to the last stitch, and all of this at the click of a button. The business has now expanded to include multiple brick-and-mortar presences and is in the process of scaling up internationally. CNBC-TV18’s Shruti Mishra caught up with the company's founder Akshay Narvekar to find out more about the brand.
