In a special initiative to keep Mumbai city clean, CNBC-TV18 tied up with renowned environmentalist Afroz Shah to clean up Mumbai’s marine litter. Activists and volunteers gathered since morning to do their part to fight pollution and marine litter.
In a special conversation with CNBC-TV18’s Nigel D’Souza, Afroz Shah said, "The bad news is that we generate too much garbage on this planet. However, the good news is that people from all different backgrounds come and help out to clean the garbage."
"We don’t want to own up and we want to pass the ball on to the government or the elected representative or the judiciary. That is also a good method in democracy. However, that cannot be the one and the only method,” Shah said.
“We need an army of people in this country, at different locations and different towns, different cities, standing up and telling that we care about the environment," Shah said.
