V-Mart Retail is looking to open 35 new stores this year, said Lalit Agarwal, CMD of the company.
The company had opened 31 new stores last year.
Agarwal said that the company would have a good backup of funds to support the growth plan internally.
"Consumption stocks are finding favour with investors right now. V-Mart Retail has guided for a same-store sales growth of 8 percent to 10 percent for financial year 2019," he said.
Expressing his disappointment over the firm's performance in the first quarter, he said, “Q1 has not been too great looking at the very strong Q1 last year." However, he expects the demand to rise.
“Metro is not on the cards. We want to explore the small towns,” said Agarwal.
