Updated : December 23, 2020 15:32:52 IST

The consumer durables sector has seen a steady pickup in demand in the recent past. In Q3FY21 sales are up about 5-7 percent, according to Vijay Sales.

In conversation with CNBC-TV18, Nilesh Gupta, Managing Partner of the electronic retail chain said, “The trend continues in laptop, we are still growing by 50 percent. Dishwashers slowed down post unlock but it’s a category which is improving. So overall it’s a better Q3 compared to last year.”

According to him, average ticket size has gone up 10-15 percent across categories.

Meanwhile, Ritesh Ghosal, CMO of Croma said that shortages in key products has been a challenge post Diwali.

“After sluggish performance between November 16 and December 15, we have seen a pickup again in the last couple of weeks and it’s more because supply has been restored rather than anything to do on the demand side; demand was strong throughout Q3,” he said.

According to him, there is apprehension on further price hikes.
