The government widened the scope of eligibility for middle income group (MIG) category homeowners to claim subsidy under the credit linked subsidy scheme.
There has been a 33 percent increase in carpet area eligible for subsidy in the middle-income group segment.
The limit of 120 square meters has been increased to 160 square meters for families earning between Rs 6,00,000 and Rs 12,00,000.
For families, with the annual income between Rs 12,00,000 and Rs 18,00,000 size has been increased to 200 square meters.
The changes will be effective from January 1, 2017.
