The Congress has moved the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'corrupt number one' jibe against former PM Rajiv Gandhi. The petition has called the PM's comment "derogatory and obscene".

"I think former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was not corrupt number 1, and we are going to complain against this," said Congress MP Sushmita Dev, who moved SC against the PM.

"If Arun Jaitley or any minister of the BJP believes that Prime Minister is not a thief, chowkidar is not the chor, let them invoke the court and we will provide the evidence of Rafale," she added.

On the Election Commission's clean chit to Modi, she said, "What is happening here is that they are passing these orders saying clean chit to the Prime Minister but they are absolutely no reasons given for those orders."

She hopes that the Supreme Court lays some guidelines "when the law is silent on the procedure".

The apex court will hear the case tomorrow.
