Mumbai will vote on the April 29, the fourth of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.
Dadar, a locality in the Mumbai South Central constituency, will be keenly watched in these polls. The pocket is known as the stronghold of Shiv Sena, the party has its headquarter in the area. The pocket is also known for its vegetable market, which is the largest vegetable market of Mumbai.
CNBC-TV18 visited the market to speak to vegetable vendors and find out their expectations from the next central government.
They said due to farmer distress, the farm produce has reduced over the last two months. Farm output has to increase and government has to help because consumers benefit when vegetables are cheap.
Farmers need to have easy access to water and fertilisers they said.Talking about the Prime Minister Kisan Scheme, some of the vendors said the government schemes were not reaching all farmers and that they don’t benefit from loan waivers.
