The selection of individuals by US President elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris clearly indicates an attempt to bring back transparency, merit, and diversity to the White House.
The communications team is an all-women’s team for the first time in American history. They have all served in previous Obama-Biden administrations and were closely involved with Biden-Harris campaign as well. The economic team too consists of people who have served in previous Obama-Biden administration.
The Biden-Harris team also includes a large number of Indian Americans holding key positions such as Neera Tanden, Vivek Murthy, and Maju Varghese.
Michael Kugelman, deputy director - Asia Program of Wilson Centre said the focus of Biden-Harris team is on experience, "The effort is to draw contrast with Donald Trump’s administration.
Kugelman said many in Donald Trump's administration didn’t have experience, but everyone in the Biden-Harris team have served in similar roles earlier.
Nish Acharya, Senior Fellow at Centre for American Progress and former director (innovation) in the Obama administration expects to see returned focus to worker and consumer rather than corporate.
