Eighteen Maoists affected constituencies and as many as 190 candidates are in the fray in phase one.

The first of the two phased polls to the state’s 4th assembly elections will be held on November 12th. Eighteen Maoists affected constituencies and as many as 190 candidates are in the fray in phase one.
First, take a look at those villages which has turned their face away from the ballot. Archana Shukla visited some of the ‘zero voting’ villages in the interiors of Naxal affected Sukma to find out if they are looking at elections positively this time or not.
Shukla also travelled to Rajnandgaon and tried to gauge the issues that are plaguing the city - remember Rajnandgaon is by far the most high profile constituency in the state - chief minister Raman Singh has been an incumbent MLA from there for the last ten years - this time he is up against Karuna Shukla of the Congress, who is the niece of the late Atal Behari Vajpayee - that's not all, she herself has been a BJP lawmaker in the past.
