The year 2019 will see some big changes in the manner in which mutual funds (MF) are sold and distributed in India.
Market regulator Securities Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has changed the way in which commissions can be paid out to MF distributors, and has also come up with certain guidelines when it comes to seeking investment advice from financial planners. CNBC-TV18 caught up with market expert Gaurav Mashruwala to understand some of those changes.
On choosing a financial adviser, Mashruwala said, "There are too many options available. When they weren't any options we all were seeking options, now that we have a lot of options."
You as an investor, an individual may want to go and interview people, so check with your banker, check with independent financial advisors (IFA), he said.
"There are national level distributors call them. There is no single barometer which says ABC and you are done with. You have to check for their experience, their qualifications, registrations etc...," Mashruwala added.
