ETFs see a huge surge: Why passive investing is on a rise

While total inflows into equity mutual funds have been dwindling over the last few months, ETFs or exchange-traded funds are seeing a surge in popularity. In fact, the assets under management or the AUM of ETFs based on the Nifty 50 index have now crossed Rs 1 lakh crore in terms of the size.

A major investment vehicle in developed markets, ETFs are clearly seeing increasing traction in India as well.
