As FIFA World Cup kicks off, IIFL has revealed its dream team. Standing in at goalkeeper is Power Grid coming in as defenders are HUL, Infosys, Motherson Sumi and Bajaj Finance. In the slightly adventurous midfield they have HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and Teamlease and for the flying attack they have Biocon, Yes Bank and L&T.
“The stocks picked were taken from research analyst and what they felt were the best stocks in their respective sectors and then I put on my hat like a football manager and tried to fit them in various positions like a team,” said Ayon Mukhopadhyay, Director-UK & Europe, IIFL Institutional Equities.
The defenders were chosen because the companies still have an earnings visibility and are a safe bet, he said.
The reason for choosing a stock like Power Grid as a goalkeeper was because you have to have something which is very regulated and safe. It will do the job for you and more like a cash proxy in the end, said Mukhopadhyay.
