Updated : February 20, 2019 01:08 PM IST

Kotak Investment Banking is expecting Qualified institutional placement (QIP) issuances to pick up in 2020, S Ramesh, managing director and CEO of the company told CNBC-TV18.

With regards to the primary markets, he said they have been on a hiatus since the second half of 2018. Some of the factors responsible for this hiatus could be higher crude prices, liquidity crisis, global trade war and some circumspection on NBFCs sector, etc, he said, adding that this kind of hiatus is expected to continue for some more time.

Ramesh said fixed sector consumer, real estate issuances may see the light of the day first and if the secondary markets and investor appetite continue to be robust, we will see the other IPOs currently pending hit the market.
