Consumption a long-term favourite; Q2 earnings unlikely to disappoint, says Emkay Global

The market is unlikely to see another round of selling with the same magnitude that was witnessed recently, said Sindhu Sameer, co-head, Institutional Equity Sales, Emkay Global Financial Services.
Talking about NBFCs, Sameer said they will definitely serve the economic purpose and some will even reward their minority and majority shareholders. "There was a problem with them but not with all of them," he said.
On the earnings front, he said the standalone numbers so far haven’t disappointed, although the market reaction can be euphoric or pessimistic. “As the results season unveils itself, I don’t think there is lot of disappointment which has knocked at our doors,” said Sameer.
When asked which sectors or spaces were better, he said he was positive on the consumption space and added that the space is not restricted only to FMCGs.
“This is one sector which has built the best business models and has given best kind of returns,” said Sameer.
Within the auto space, he said there are significant opportunities available from a 2-3 year perspective.
