SC rejects Vedanta's plea for reopening of Sterlite Tuticorin plant

The Supreme Court has rejected  Vedanta's plea for reopening of the Sterlite Tuticorin plant. The counsel for Vedanta argued that the plant was significant for Indian from an economic. It constituted about 36 percent of copper supply for India. Ever since the plant has been shut down, India has turned the net importer of copper. For India’s commercial requirement, it is important that this plant’s operation be allowed.
