Hotelier Keshav Suri urges Supreme Court to quash Section 377

Updated : April 24, 2018 20:07:43 IST

The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to the government, asking it to clarify its stand on Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code within a week.

The move came after hotelier Keshav Suri moved the apex court urging it to scrap Section 377. In his petition, executive director of Lalit Hotels said that the section cannot apply to consenting adults. He has sought a direction to declare the right to choice of sexual orientation as a fundamental right as per the constitution of India.
