I do believe that the procedure of the collegium requires more transparency, said Justice Jasti Chelameswar, who retired from the Supreme Court on Friday.
Earlier this year, Justice Chelameswar made headlines when he and three other top Supreme Court judges held a press conference and publicly rebelled against the Chief Justice of India.
Speaking exclusively to CNBC-TV18, Justice Chelameswar, said, "On what basis cases are distributed in the Supreme Court? Is it by pure lottery or is there a rationale pattern in which cases are distributed, there should be some process. I believe a more rational process should be consistent with the constitutional norms, which this court has been preaching to all other organs of the state."
