The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday relieved its special director Rakesh Asthanaof all responsibilities, said people familiar with the matter.
The Delhi High Court has directed the CBI to maintain status quo on the criminal proceedings initiated against Asthana, who has challenged the FIR lodged against him on bribery allegations.
The high court dismissed his plea and clarified that there was no stay on the ongoing probe.
The CBI had on Monday arrested its DSP, Kumar, in connection with bribery allegations involving the investigative agency’s second-in-command, Asthana.
