Cochin Shipyard Ltd is witnessing low attendance of employees over the past few days as the workers are finding it difficult to travel to work due to suburbs being affected by the floods, said Madhu S Nair, chief managing director of the company.
“The suburbs near the airports are flooded but the city, the shipyard area – the impact is slow. The only impact we have is employees travelling has been a bit difficult. So we are seeing much more lean attendance over the last couple of days,” he said.
“From a ship repair and ship building point of view, I should say that the impact is practically slow. We are pretty back to normalcy,” he added.
Talking about the firm's business, he said, “We are seeing some sparks in the international arena. Pricing is a little bit stiff because Korea, Japan and the better Chinese yards have got their orders till 2021. So we can see that the orders will come in."
