Conrad Maldives opens underwater luxury hotel residence 'The Muraka'

The Conrad Maldives Rangali island has opened the world's first underwater luxury hotel residence.'The Muraka', which means coral in the local language 'Dhivehi.'

The two-storey villa's lower floor has a king-sized bedroom, living area and a bathroom.4. The bedroom is over 16 ft (five meters) below sea level and offers a 180-degree panoramic view of the Indian Ocean.

The upper floor which is above water has a living space, two bedrooms, bathroom, gym, kitchen, bar, dining room, butler's quarters.

The infinity pool and deck have been designed to face the direction of the sunset. 'The Muraka' can accommodate up to nine guests and has a team of 24-hour staff and butlers.

The price is $50,000 per night but there's a catch...

You can't book the Muraka for single night stays, it's only accessible via a four-night, $200,000 package. Conrad Maldives Rangali island also has an underwater five-star restaurant, Ithaa.
