Focus is on investing in brand awareness, says Info Edge

Info Edge's net profit as well as revenues have been in line with the expectations in the third quarter but EBITDA margins have been consistently declining, below 30 percent this quarter.

Elaborating on the numbers, Chintan Thakkar, CFO of the company, said, “From the topline perspective, across the board we have done a good job and there is an increase in billings, there is increase in revenues, so I think I am very happy from the topline perspective."

“We are trying to invest back into business by spending more on the branding side of the business,” he added.

In terms of revenues of Naukri, Thakkar said, “Going by the past trend and past three-four quarters, IT seems to be doing well. There is some kind of hiring back in IT and that also has an effect on our business. So when we slice and dice all the numbers, no matter which segment you look, no matter whether it is a large customer or small customer or new customer, we have seen the growth is far more secular. So we are encouraged by that. Having said that, Q4 is the large quarter for us so it is a very important quarter for us, so we will see how the market reacts but last three quarters, we have seen consistent growth in our business and recruitment and that is very positive.”

“There is a lot more investment happening and most of these investments are happening through the growth in topline. However, having said that, as compared to last year, the losses have certainly come down, on a cash basis for 99acres this quarter, we are losing about Rs 3-3.5 crore amount, which is negligible and we will continue to invest in branding and creating brand awareness because we do believe that maybe this is a beginning of a good three-four year cycle in real estate for us,” he further mentioned.
