It has been a tough year for the flower industry. The lockdown translated to almost six months of zero business and recovery is still work in progress.
Vikaas Gutgutia, managing director of Ferns N Petals, spoke to CNBC-TV18’s Manisha Gupta about the challenges for the sector.
“This year we will probably be closing at 60 percent of what we could have done so almost half. Metro and tier-II cities are doing very well and that is where the growth is. Upcoming cities and tier-II cities have a lot of potential.
On the growth of flower industry, Gutgutia said, “Overall floriculture industry needs some kind of government intervention in terms of supporting the farmers and growers, in terms of transportation, in terms of logistic, some relief on loan interest and some relief on the paybacks.”
