Protests by farmers in north India has gained international attention and Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau's comment on the issue has not gone well with the Indian government. Days after Trudeau expressed "concerns" over the protests and vowed to defend the right to protest peacefully, India hit back and called the comment "unacceptable".
Moreover, the External Affairs Ministry has summoned the Canadian High Commissioner in India suggesting that Canada's interference in India's internal affairs is not unacceptable. The issue could cause serious damage to ties between the two countries.
