Farmer leaders who have been in a meeting today have once again re-iterated that they reject the government's proposals for an amendment in the law and that there is no change in their demand for a guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) and a complete repeal of the laws. The leaders have called for a Bharat Bandh on the 8th of December.
Narendra Singh Tomar, in an exclusive interview with Network18 has said that the government's intention on minimum support price is clear. He said that the government had no issue whatsoever in giving its commitment on MSP in writing.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also threw her weight be the farm laws.
Farm leaders have however reiterated that there is no going back on their demands of a complete rollback of the farm laws and a legal guarantee on minimum support price. Top representatives from farmer unions held a meeting at Singhu border today.
CNBC-TV18’s Ashmit Kumar caught up with them to get a sense of the demands that they are going to push for at tomorrow's meeting.
Ashmit also spoke to one biker club from Punjab. These biker clubs who are also farmers have reached the national capital in support of the protests.
