Protocol for treating COVID-19: India’s top doctors explain

Updated : May 20, 2020 07:15 PM IST

India’s COVID-19 count has gone up by more than 5,600 cases, just a day after the total number of cases crossed the 1 lakh mark. Last week saw around 3,800 cases being added every day. This week, it looks like that base has shifted to over 5,000 daily cases on an average.

This is largely along expected lines and hospitals have been bracing for the influx of patients. Do we need any changes to the treatment protocol? Does every patient need hospitalisation? How can we ensure that hospitals don't get overwhelmed?

CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan caught up with two of the best infectious disease experts in the country, Dr. Mohan Joshi, dean of Nair Hospital and Dr. Om Shrivastav, Specialist of Infectious Diseases.
