Positive on Biocon and Laurus Labs, says Prakash Diwan

Updated : June 14, 2018 07:45 PM IST

I am positive on two stocks, one is Biocon and another one is Laurus Labs, said Prakash Diwan to CNBC-TV18's Anuj Singhal and Surabhi Upadhyay.

On the pharmaceutical sector, Diwan said, “Torrent Pharma happens to be very insulated plays. Nothing much on the US side and no negative headwinds. So, it will probably come of age in terms of the rest of them getting recalibrated."

Speaking on Mindtree, he said, the company would be a pass. Most of the good things has been priced in and I have not gone through the Citi report in detail, but it could possibly also mean that the other stocks would get slightly into favour. However, I do agree that Mindtree has had its share of people following it and very closely wanting to buy into it, but it could be consolidating at these levels.

Talking on cement sector, he said it's a very interesting space for the simple reason that the biggies have started putting a lot of pricing pressure on the industry as a whole. They have reduced prices and there is this element of capacity utilisation, which is worrying some of the bigger ones.

On India Cements, he said the company had to take the brunt of all these price cuts that the bigger ones have made. It is a cyclical thing and it could turnaround in the next two quarters. Post the monsoon, there could be a pickup and then there will be a lot of value hunting that will come in. However, for the time being I would believe it would just simmer in the lower levels.”
