Even as concerns on the new coronavirus strain lingers, Mumbai is preparing for the first round of vaccination.

According to industry sources, storage for vaccines are being set up in the Bhandup region. It is expected to have a capacity to store up to 1 crore vaccines. Also, vaccine storage containers with ability to adjust temperature are being sent to government hospitals.

The state government is aiming to vaccinate up to 1 crore people in Mumbai. The priority will be healthcare workers, frontline workers, and people who haven’t contracted COVID or have not developed anti-bodies against COVID-19.

The administration is also carefully watching the new strain at this point in time.
