As Asia's biggest slum had emerged as the biggest challenge for authorities to fight COVID-19, Maharashtra Medical Council on Tuesday said the state may continue with the containment measures in Mumbai's Dharavi till the coronavirus curve flattens.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Shereen Bhan, Dr Shivkumar Utture, president, said that maintaining social distancing is almost impossible in Dharavi as it's home to around 9 lakh people living in an area of just about 2 square kilometres
According to Utture, almost 47,000 people were examined, 4,000 were quarantined and 450 underwent swab test and 83 have tested positive.
