Dr VK Paul of Niti Aayog says COVID-19 still in a relatively early stage in India

As the nationwide coronavirus tally crossed the 3-lakh mark, Dr V K Paul, member (health) Niti Aayog, on Friday said COVID-19 is still in a relatively early stage as shown by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) study.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Shereen Bhan, Paul said that India's testing strategy has been great as mortality rates, cumulative deaths in the country is still on lower side.

According to Paul, India's testing strategy has been great and more testing should be allowed if coronavirus spread is more dense.

He said states like Punjab, Kerala and Haryana have handled the situation very well and the central government has effectively used the time that lockdown period provided for the preparation.
