Former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan suggests remedies for NPAs to estimates committee

Updated : September 11, 2018 06:43 AM IST

Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan has sent a note on causes and remedies for non-performing assets (NPAs) to a parliamentary committee on estimates, said people aware of the matter.

The estimates committee under the chairmanship of Murli Manohar Joshi had sought an explanation from the former RBI governor on what had gone wrong with the NPAs.

This request came from the estimates committee after the former chief economic adviser (CEA) Arvind Subramanian while deposing to the estimates committee had said that former governor Rajan had identified the NPA issue early in his regime.
