India is rapidly taking the lead in generating clean, renewable energy and finding sustainable sources to fuel the economy. Globally, India ranks 4th in installed wind power capacity and 5th in installed solar power capacity. The Government of India has also formed specialised bodies to push the adoption of renewable energy sources, such as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). These organisations have played a crucial role in enabling India’s rise as one of the fastest adopters of solar energy.
In this special Tech@Work podcast series—a ‘Power2Think exclusive’, CNBC-TV18’s Rituparna Bhuyan discusses how industry leaders have helped contribute to the adoption of solar energy and the journey they’ve had in the renewable energy space. He speaks to Sunil Jain, CEO, Hero Future Energies, and Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC about their association in leveraging solar power by using rooftop solar projects to power operations of Delhi Metro, the many factors that led to the rise of solar energy adoption in India’s industrial and commercial establishments, and how solar energy can help increase savings. This is a partnered post.
