The mines ministry is aiming to auction around 190 mineral blocks in the coming two years, sources told CNBC-TV18.
The ministry is actively discussing the plan with states.
Sources told CNBC-TV18 that the 190 mineral blocks includes 59 limestone, 55 iron ore, 31 bauxite and 1 goldmine.
Government think-tank NITI Aayog has asked ministry to seek legal view on the Metals and Mining Development Regulations (MMDR) clause that it is looking to amend, so as to release as many as 700 mines which are part of it.
