Strong preference for platinum among young consumers, says Platinum Guild India

We saw very robust growth in 2017 for platinum, said Vaishali Banerjee, MD, Platinum Guild India.
Metal imports is up by close to 47% and jewellery fabrication is up by 34%, she added.
Banerjee said that their core target for platinum has been the younger audience.
She said, “Typically it is in the past been more metro centric or large cities, but now we have seen demand and desire for platinum has spread, even down to tier II cities. However, typically the more educated urban young Indian is our core target.”
