Updated : October 23, 2018 07:10 PM IST

The Supreme Court ruled against the blanket ban on manufacture and sale of firecrackers ahead of Diwali. The firecrackers can be sold only through licensed dealers, said the apex court.

The supreme court has also banned online sale of firecrackers. The court also clarified that the judgment holds true for all religious events and not just Diwali.

The firecrackers can be burst only between 8 pm and 10 pm on Diwali, added Supreme Court. On Christmas and new year, crackers will be allowed between 11:45 pm and 12:45 am.
