SC prohibits the plying of 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in the National Capital Region

The Supreme Court prohibited the plying of 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR). The apex court has also directed the transport dept to announce that such vehicles be impounded if found plying.

These vehicles have to be listed on Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) & transport dept of NCR's website. The court has also ordered CPCB to make a social media account where citizens can complain about pollution.

Earlier, the National Green Tribunal had also banned such vehicles in Delhi-NCR.
