The Supreme Court on Friday banned all construction activities in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Union Territory of Chandigarh citing the failure of these states and the UT to implement a solid waste management policy. The ban may have dimmed hopes of a revival for the sector.
Nitin Patel, executive director of Sadbhav Engineering, spoke to CNBC-TV18 about the impact of the court's order on the sector.
“Prima facie, we understand that this is pertaining to largely the redevelopment plan which is happening into the city area because a lot of wastage can be generated and this is a concern which is being shown by SC,” he said.
“We are seeking more clarification from NHAI and other clients,” Patel added.
“We are of the view that this will not have any impact on the highways because we also have to get some more clarification from authority but we understand that it is generally applicable for the site of redevelopment and the building construction activity where the debris and everything required to be disposed of,” said Patel.
