PM Narendra Modi and Cochin airport win UN's 'Champions of the Earth' award 2018

PM Narendra Modi and Cochin airport win the 'champions of the earth' award 2018 along with four other environmental changemakers.

PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron were recognised in the policy leadership category.

PM Modi was recognised for championing the international solar alliance. Modi's pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022 also received a special mention.

Cochin airport (CIAL) bagged the award for entrepreneurial vision for its leadership in the use of sustainable energy.

Cochin airport is world's first fully solar-powered airport.
