The Interpol has responded to the CBI on its diffusion notice on Nirav Modi, sources said. The diffusion notice has been circulated to all member nations by Interpol after India's request.
Nirav Modi has travelled five times to the UK on his Indian passport till the March 31, despite it being revoked in February. He is now travelling on a Singapore passport.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had requested the Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against diamantaire Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
The development comes after reports that Modi has fled to the United Kingdom and is claiming political asylum from what he calls a "political persecution."
A Red Corner Notice is the closest instrument currently available to an international arrest warrant, and is used to locate individuals with the goal of extradition, according to the US Department of Justice.
