'Pink Legacy' diamond sold for a whopping $50 million at Christie's. The 'Pink Legacy' also became the world record holder for price paid per carat for a pink diamond at an auction.
US-based luxury jeweller Harry Winston purchased the 18.96-carat, rectangular-cut diamond. The stone will be renamed, 'The Winston Pink Legacy.'
It is graded 'vivid' which is the highest rating for a pink diamond. The rare gem once belonged to the oppenheimer family which ran the de beers diamond mining company for decades.
The identity of the seller was not disclosed.
