In a bid to boost exports and push the ‘Make In India’ campaign, the government will unveil a strategy to turn districts into export hubs in the next budget. According to sources, the commerce and finance ministries are discussing the strategy for creating these hubs. The discussions have three main aspects. Firstly, export facilitation will be pushed at the DGFT level, which means both DGFT and the district industrial centres will team up to push export facilitation at the district level.Secondly, a lot of data is needed regarding exports, both of goods and services, and for that one has to ensure that IT systems like GSTN and ICEGATE will need to operate fully at the district level.Thirdly, district wise export-related strategy will also be prepared. For example, there are districts where exporters could be proficient in exporting handicrafts or leather goods. In such cases export strategy for the district will be planned to achieve maximisation of such goods.
