Updated : November 12, 2019 02:31 PM IST

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted different measures the government has introduced in the rural and agri finance sectors at the 6th World Congress on Rural Agricultural Finance in New Delhi. She also talked about financial inclusion, ease of living in rural areas, connectivity and better farm management.

She said, “I am here to share with you that this government both in its tenure earlier between 2014-2019 and now has clearly put the rural development and farmer concerns on a larger landscape of food security, national security, farmer, farmer conditioners and overall looking at what is happening to the water management and soil fertility. So the larger and the smaller issues are all being touched upon by the government through various steps that it has taken.”

She also stressed on water management issue. She said, “India recognises that there is a need for very quickly taking water management and water-related stress points.”
